Moorit grey horned ram. May carry spotting. Born April 16, 2013.
Spot is the second born of Tryna’s twins this year, both of which are moorit grey rams. He was born 7 pounds 4 ounces. Like his brother, his growth has not been what it should be due to his mother not producing enough milk. (He is also being supplemented, but still seems stunted.) He has his mother’s large, wide hindquarters, but also her average width chest and shoulders. It looks like he will have soft, fine wool like his mother’s. His horns started out looking like they were growing in towards the head, but that was just the tips. The bases now are swinging out nicely. He has a calm, tame personality, and loves to seek out human attention. He is not pushy at all, though.
I suspect he may not be a ram candidate, though that determination will not be made until fall. However, if he isn’t breeding quality, he would be an excellent wool wether. His fleece is good quality and will make a gorgeous taupe brown color yarn. (See here for an example of what adult moorit grey fleece looks like spun up.) Plus, he has the personality that would make him easy and fun to handle by anyone. If you are at all interested in purchasing a wool pet, let me know, and I’ll keep you in mind should he come for sale as one.
