Felicite

ALX FELICITE M2H 11A -[CAN]704512-H

Felicite as a hogget, her second fall. 09.12.2014

Moorit grey horned ewe. Carries spotting. Born April 22, 2013.

Felicite was the best lamb of the crop in 2013 all around. She has gorgeous large, wide hindquarters, just like her mom Isadore. (Who got her great hindquarters from the SRX ram Thunder.) She also seemed to get her father, Ferdinand’s, nice square chest. Maybe not quite as wide in front, but nice and flat over the shoulders and maybe just a bit wider than average in the front between the legs. Nice straight legs overall. She also has a very level topline, and is well balanced between her shoulders and hips. I just love the build on this gal. She was the fastest growing of all the lambs, and is the most muscular as well, even as a hogget (yearling). On top of this, she seemed to have gotten her mother’s lustrous, soft wool. Her wool is just gorgeous. Personality wise, she is closer to her mother’s; the bold, attention seeking sort. She is easy to handle, and adores being petted. Her horns are small and wide, similar to he mother’s. So far, her mother has thrown a ram lamb with beautiful wide horns, so I suspect Felicite will also tend to throw good horns. (Though I still have much to learn about predicting hornset.) Her parasite resistance thus far has been excellent. She has not needed any chemical deworming even when the worm pressure was high. She has never needed assistance lambing, even her first time, which was a large single, and is a wonderful attentive mother.

You can view her lamb page here.

Felicite has those nice wide, square hindquarters that her grandfather Thunder gave to her mother, and which passed to her. 09.12.2014

This is Felicite the same day as the other pictures, right after shearing. With the wool gone, you can see how straight her topline is and how hefty she is through the torso. 09.12.2014

Another view of her hindquarters, this time without the wool. 09.12.2014

A top view of Felicite without the wool. It’s easier to see her shoulder and hips are about the same width. 09.12.2014

She’s tripping on her leash a bit, but you can still how square her forequarters are when the wool is off. 09.12.2014
